The state park is known for its stunning red sandstone rock formations formed by the great shifting sand dunes 150 million years ago. The park gets its name from these rock formations that appear to be on fire over a sunny day. This geologic wonderland has 2000-year-old naturally petrified trees and petroglyphs. The state park is also abundant in wildlife, including snakes, bighorn sheep, kit foxes, and coyotes.
The park is roughly an hour’s drive from Las Vegas. Once you are here, you will surely fall into the vista views of nature. With several walking and hiking trails, this fiery terrain is a perfect place for adventure enthusiasts. You can also plan a picnic with friends or family, including children. The park remains open 24 hours a day and 7-days a week.
The visitor center at the park exhibits information on ecology, geology, prehistory, and history. You can also purchase books, souvenirs, and exhibits on the Valley of Fire and the nearby areas from the visitor center.
Note – Several shows and activities keep happening every day in the park. You can seek information about those shows from the park staff at the kiosks.
